photoblog image "The Interview"

"The Interview"

If it's a likeness, alone, it's not a success. If, through my portraits, you can come to know the subjects more meaningfully, if it synthesizes your feelings toward someone whose work has imprinted itself on your mind--if you see a photograph and say, 'Yes, this is the person,' with a little new insight-that is a beautiful experience. -Yousuf Karsh

I took a series of shots at work for an interview for our local church magazine of which I am part of the design team. I didn't want any static stuff so after going through the interview I sat the Pastor down adjacent to a large window with the lights off and had a conversation with him. The extra light was provided by the use of an off camera speedlite flashgun held off camera and triggered by a infra red transmitter.

I'm really happy with the results (The one's shown above are just two of them), as I think I've got some really dynamic shots, I can't wait to design the article.

I hope that you do not mind me saying but both images are powerfull in their own right but the second image would be great on it's own. Mal

I'm with Mal on the right one being more powerful; however, I can't see it being put up alone. Put together, they give out a louder vibe.

You seemed to have really captured the personality of the pastor, and your lighting offers so much dimension...to the images as well as his personality!
