I usually find that these shots work best if the DOF is either too shallow or not very shallow. This one seems to in between to me. Just a thought.
Mr Skee: I really disagree here, especially when you also want to recognise the couple out of focus. What you are suggesting here, would work if, the photographer wanted to keep the identities of the couple undisclosed.

Here, I wanted to show the couple, their happiness and gaze, but also the little girl taking the picture and the relationship between the two.

So often I see photographers, not reading the situation of an event well enough, they are simple too happy to try out their "So called" new techniques, thus missing the whole relevance of the capture and the story it tells.

I agree with U Skee, I sometimes don't read a situation before I decide to snap away, but I am learning to more patient before i snap. I like how we can still see the reactions on the couples face, this is a nice capture man.
