More and more I find myself putting away my tele's and zooms, using
more , wider lenses. They tend to be more appropriate to my ever-
evolving shooting style.
Thus, we come to today's shot, from my recent trip to France, every
where I go i'm on the lookout for peeps playing instruments, this is no
exception. I'm gradually building up a strong portfolio of such :-)
The technique, used today, is
almost similar to yesterdays, just a slight variation. I first quickly
underexposure the sky by a stop or two then I illuminate my subject
placing my flashgun which is held in my free hand, where ever I want
the shadows to fall. I feel this technique gives my pictures a almost
3-D kind of quality.

Cool shot. nice flash work.
Once upon a time (when I mainly worked in B&W), I only used a 28mm lense. Ah, reportage.
The theory is that it is by working within constraints that we produce our best work. More simply, if if you can choose to do anything with everything then you can do nothing. Blah blah blah. Anyway Mista Skee, I await your further journeys on the way to hunting the elusive but skee-dazzling shot to end all shots. Enjoy!

Skee, you and Inye are making it very hard to save my money. I'm very tempted to get and buy some gear for an off camera flash, right now. Not used. BRAND NEW. Reza will be poor by the end of the week.
Great shot here. Bags of mood with the warm directional flash. His expression is really engaging too. You can almost hear the music (although I'm now listening to Opeth).
I'm not sure I like this one and it's because of the flash technique, I guess it's just a preference to style. So on that basis well done, it's just not my taste.
Me likey the fact that flash does not make it distorted even though there was so much going on in the pic and it was still a lil bright and there is also a nice view behind...dunno. Just likey
I think might have to agree with Jide on this one. This bright ness of the flash is a little disturbing to me. Maybe it is the intensity of the flash. I'm finding that it helps to adjust Flash EV when using my built in flash, but in your case I get the feeling the intensity is a creative choice and part of you style.
I am skee-dazzled!! That is a great technique, and this is a great shot!
Mr Skee: Thanks, I always accept that my style of photography, dosen't appeal ( and shouldn't either) The ablility of taking a technique and adding one own personal touch to it, to me it what art should all be about. Thanks for being skee-dazzled ;-) tomorrows anotha day.
Skee although not my style me have to say the Subster is certainly Skee-dazzled. Why, cause you are building yourself a style (like the Alakija man & the Subster are). As soon I see a Skee shot, you KNOW it could only have been the work of the Skee man. That for me is a very hard thing to do. To carve urself a niche in this hard world of photography.
So for me although not me style I love the shot (why did I not take it) and when I feel that way towards a shot the only thing I feel I need to do is bless that prosumer/photographer with a coveted "I ILIKEY" from the subster.
This is not only a photograph, but a work of art. I do agree with you it does give the the picture a 3D sort of feel. The background also adds to the feel of the shot. I duff my hat to those who not only SEE the shot, but can interpret the shot in their own unique way.
